Volunteer Opportunities
You can become part of the Club experience by investing time with Club members. Regular volunteers work with one or more of our core program areas and provide a positive influence and safe environment by committing two or more hours at the same time each week. Speaking with a staff member, such as the Volunteer Coordinator, is a great way to decide what kind of Club service is right for you. There is never a wrong time to enhance the character of youth in Grand Rapids.
Special Events Volunteer
You can become a driving force for the Clubs in the community by securing resources and doing the planning needed to make our fundraisers, 'friend-raisers' and celebrations possible. Special Events committee members incorporate their creative ideas and best practices to engineer successful events. Community partners lend resources and expertise from their businesses to support our endeavors. Special Events and office volunteers help prepare for these fun events and make them happen, showing another way to enhance the character of youth in Grand Rapids.
2010-2011 Special Events include:

Art Studio Volunteer
You can help youth enhance their creativity through art studio activities like painting, ceramics, beadwork and more. With the right materials in place, volunteers can interface with members in the colorful confines of either Club's Art room. With a little supervision and encouragement, these venues come to life with the sight of new creations and the sounds of conversation as volunteers and members work side-by-side on projects. Volunteers get to lead by example, creating their own pieces for fun and display.

Learning Center Volunteer
You can impact the scholastic success of youth by tutoring. The Learning Center at each Club is a year-round place for academic enrichment. Club members receive homework help during the school year through a daily Power Hour program. Staff and volunteers provide individual guidance for members as they work toward a brighter future. These Centers also provide a quiet space for enrichment activities and computer access in the evenings and during the summer months.

Special Programs Volunteer
You can help us instill values, character and key skills through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America programming. The Clubs make a concerted effort to introduce personal and professional development programs to compliment recreational offerings. Programs pertain to such diverse topics as financial literacy, nutrition, self-esteem and community service. These programs and new ones like them require a consistent commitment for a finite period. Please speak at length with a Club Director to explore ways to make this meaningful commitment possible.
