Meet our NEW Volunteer & Special Events Manager!

July 25th, 2016

We're excited to add Nika Kusmierz, our new Volunteer & Special Events Manager, to the BGC Grand Rapids team! We thought we'd get to know her a little better...

What is your background/what did you do before BGC?

I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Sociology in 2014. Upon graduation, I was the Program Coordinator for Kent County Girls on the Run, a local chapter of a National organization that empowers girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident while creatively integrating running. My passion lies in working with nonprofits, and I am happy to be working with Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids.

Why are you excited to take on this role?

While I was in college, I worked at Seidman Club and Camp O’Malley as an Art Instructor and Camp Counselor. It is so great to be back at the Clubs in another capacity organizing volunteers and managing special events, which are so crucial to the success of the Clubs.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my loved ones. I also am very active with community inclusion events throughout the city, a member of BL2END, and on the Board of Young Nonprofit Professional Leaders of Grand Rapids.

Welome Nika, I look forward to meeting you soon, perhaps at the Be Great Tailgate.
