Summer Creativity at the Steil Club
June 23rd, 2011
With summer programming in full swing, the Steil Club staff has come up with new and creative ways to engage the Club members in learning. They are featuring a different theme for each week of the summer. This method excites the youth and keeps them coming back week after week for the new content.
This week the theme was board games. The staff played a Club wide game of "Clue." They crafted a scenario where the Wii gaming system was stolen from the Club by a staff member, and the kids had to break into groups to figure out which staff member(s) had the means, motives, and opportunity to do such a crime.
Sgt. Poleski of the Grand Rapids Police Department came down and was the lead detective on the investigation. The groups were issued search warrants and put the staff through some heavy interrogations.
In the end, it was discovered that the Wii was stolen by Steil Club Director Erin and staff member Tyrell because they were upset that their fellow coworker Chris was going to run a Wii tournament on Unplugged Wednesday (check back on our newsfeed to read more on this great greening program at the Club).
"The kids had a lot of fun," said Steil Club Director Erin Crison. "We will be hosting a CSI themed day later on in the summer where Club members will be able to do finger print analysis and other activities."
